My Three Favorite Airguns

April 18, 2010

Conventional rifles and hand guns cost hundreds of or maybe more than $1,000 dollars to purchase and they can be troublesome to transport and also to safely store. Airguns are a relatively inexpensive and practical means of spending time recreational shooting. With range fees and ammunition costs a day at the shooting range using a conventional firearm will set you back a lot more than $100. For comparable amount of cash it is possible to equip yourself with a fine performing air gun rifle or pistol that you simply keep forever. Airgun fire pellets that are incredibly inexpensive. It will cost less than a cent a round in most cases. It comes with an exception that i will tell you about later.

These are generally my 3 favorite air guns and why I enjoy shooting and owning them. The favorites list might be doubled or tripled but this narrow your search provides an introduction to a number of the kinds of air guns that you can buy.

The Crosman 2240 is often a 12 gram CO2 powered, single shot pistol. They have a bolt action breech for loading. This pistol foire .22 caliber pellets shoots at 460 feet per second velocity. The 10 in. barrel is rifled that makes it an incredibly worthy target shooter to 90 feet roughly. The Model 2240 is extremely popular in the USA and Europe as there are a huge collection of custom crosman parts that will use to customize this highly prized target pistol.

The Crosman 1077 is styled just like a military carbine and is a .177 caliber CO2 powered pellet rifle. Of many Crosman air guns this is the most fun to shoot because it fires 12 rounds as fast as you can pull the trigger. The 1077 won’t make a lot of noise either so you’ll not be disturbing the following door neighbor. This air rifle can also be popular in Europe looked after has many aftermarket parts for customization.

The most fun on the bunch may be the EAA Drozd automatic bb gun pistol. The Russian made baikal drozd air gun will fire 6 round bursts for a price of 600 rounds per minute. Using a muzzle velocity of 500 fps the hail of steel BBs it fires will break as much bottles at the same time as you can operate. Construction is military grade polycarbonate and steel. This baby isn’t a toy nor manages to do it look or think that one.

Air guns can offer a satisfying shooting experience minus the noise and cost of conventional firearms. That does not necessarily mean that air guns should ever be treated as toys, however. They demand the same safe shooting environment and range safety procedures as any ballistic weapon.
